Magazine layout

Layout of an edition of the Koper Youth Centre (Center Mladih Koper) magazine in Slovenian.

Laying out a magazine in a language I don’t know was a challenge, but also an opportunity to explore new visual solutions. Paying special attention to the structure of the content and the difficulty of integrating different articles and topics, in this case I used a modular grid to organise the information.

The magazine, in A4 format, has 52 pages and is designed to be read in both print and digital versions.

UNIFYING ELEMENTS

1. Geometric shapes

To maintain visual consistency throughout the magazine, I used geometric shapes as the design’s common thread.

2. Typography

In addition, I incorporated a handwritten font which, although it seems to appear randomly, serves a visual purpose: to add rhythm, contrast with the regular font, and reinforce the magazine’s urban character, in tune with its young audience.
